“A Brand New Life” is an inspiring story of TJ Reed and his battle with leukemia. This touching story of hope, love and kindness redefines the meaning of "community" support, and will leave an indelible impression on you and the way you think about life and the lives of those you love.
It started with a mysterious rash on his chest. Six months of accelerating and debilitating physical symptoms leave the young man at death’s door before he is finally diagnosed with a severe form of cancer. But the diagnosis is just the beginning. Treatment requires a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. The odds of finding a donor match are 1 in 100,000. Before the search can start the Reed’s must find over $30,000 dollars.
The community of Eugene and the kindness of many complete strangers form a circle of support around TJ. TJ’s 21 year-old girlfriend, Ashlee, steps up to be the caretaker for TJ’s complicated treatment. She learns to administer the medications, communicate with the medical staff and comfort TJ through his recovery.
The family’s story is told in their own words and through the use of animation, home video and professional footage.
